Child protection policy

It is the policy of The Scout Association to safeguard the welfare of all Members by protecting them from neglect and from physical, sexual and emotional harm.

In the Scout Group, our adult volunteers operate responsibly in accordance with the policies of The Scout Association on Safeguarding, Equal Opportunities, Bullying and Safety in Scouting.

All adult volunteers (Leaders, Trustees, Parent helper staying overnight, etc) are subjected to vetting procedures:

References

  • References are sought from 2 referees ascertaining an applicant’s suitability to, or knowledge of their, work or contact with young people.  Referees are also asked to  comment on an applicant’s character and relationships with others.

Self Declaration:

  • Occasional helpers (usually parents who help less than once a month and not involving an over night stay) sign a Self Declaration form indicating they are not disqualified from working with children under the relevant Acts.

 

 Our policies and procedures are designed to keep young people safe from harm whilst they enjoy the fun and excitement of their Scouting adventure.
